Description of Rancho De Las Palmas

Please see the beautiful photos of Rancho De Las Palmas!

In describing an event facility, the term "oasis" gets thrown around pretty loosely, but the Club Rancho de las Palmas, with its spring-fed lagoon and palm trees, comes as close as we've ever seen to fitting the literal definition.

The Rancho, which is actually the "backyard" of entrepreneur Robert Cassar's private estate, was conceived, designed, and executed by Mr. Cassar and his team of gardeners and workmen. Everything here is handmade and an outpouring of
Mr. Cassar's seemingly unlimited creative energy.
Fortunately, he's been kind enough to open his private hideaway to us.

Wedding ceremonies are often held on the short flight of brick stairs leading to the deck. The stairs have an overhead arch and side railings in robin's egg-blue wrought iron, perfect for twining with flowers.  Your family and friends sit or stand on the adjacent lawn to witness your exchange of vows.

From here, it's only a few steps to the Pavilion for the reception. Guests enter the Pavilion through lovely leaded-glass French doors, and when the weather is uncooperative, no problem—it's fully enclosed by sides of clear glass. The Pavilion is quite charming as is, but for more formal weddings, tulle can be draped from the Pavilion's centerpost to soften the look.

The focal point of Club Rancho de las Palmas is the huge lagoon, with its three sparkling fountains and miniature tropical island.

A rope bridge leads from the shore to the island, where you'll find a wooden gazebo, shaded by fan palms. Though the gazebo is too small for ceremonies, it's a great place to sip a mai-tai with friends and enjoy the view. Weeping willows and stalwart palm trees make a jungle on the shore, and a spacious serpentine deck, any part of which can be set up for entertaining, borders the lagoon. A nighttime wedding or party would be especially glamorous here, since virtually every structure is strung with twinkle lights.

As you stroll around the Rancho's grounds, notice the unique architectural details. On the deck, wood railings change to wrought iron, and pathways that start out brick turn to cobblestone, then to concrete poured in imaginative designs. Classical fountains rub shoulders with abstract stone structures made of river rock and brick, some decorated with leaping dolphins.

Other fun possibilities at Club Rancho de las Palmas would be a luau or jungle-themed party. How about an Arabian Nights bash, with all those lights twinkling among the palms? If you can't stand the thought of renting a stuffy ballroom or crowded banquet hall for your event, try the Club Rancho de las Palmas—
it's as refreshing as an oasis in the desert!
