Tell us more about you/ your business. When did you start, why, etc. all the fun details!

My father was a hairdresser, so I’ve grown up in and around the beauty business!  I’ve been a working professional in this industry since 1984.  With a background in commercial, video,TV and print work, I began to include providing makeup & hairstyling for weddings in the early 2000’s.  As the years progressed, I’ve added makeup/hair artists to our team.  We service Ventura, Santa Barbara, LA and Orange Counties, and are so blessed to have the most wonderful brides and bridal parties.  We feel honored to share in the most important day of their lives!

What is one fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

I have 7 grandkids and LOVE to sing and ride on the back of my hubby’s Harley!

How long have you been a vendor at Rancho de las Palmas?

Oh my goodness, for many years!!!!

What is your favorite thing about being a bridal hair and makeup artist at a wedding?

It’s such an honor to share in the getting ready process for our brides.  It makes my heart happy to see the love between our brides, families and bridal parties – and to be part of that “moment in time” with them is amazing and often brings tears to my eyes.  And we LOVE pampering them too!!

What is your favorite thing about working at RDLP?

I love love LOVE this venue!  The bridal room is perfect, and the grounds are spacious and relaxing.  I love Laura and of course, JLo (the dog)!!

What is one piece of advice you have for couples on their wedding day?

Don’t rush it!  Enjoy each moment of the planning process – it goes by so quickly.  Find vendors that you connect with, ask questions, create the wedding that reflects YOU – and have fun!!!

What is the timeline for booking a hair/makeup artist for a wedding?

Sometimes hair & makeup are booked as early as 2 years prior to the wedding day, but generally 6 months to one year prior (depending on the artist’s availability of course!)  My advice: research vendors, ask questions and find the one that’s the best fit for you – then book!

Advice for people who may be uncomfortable/ not like having photos taken of themselves but want to have their wedding photographed?

(aka how can they feel comfortable, confident, and have natural, beautiful photos that they will love?)

This is a once in a lifetime event – finding a good hair & makeup team to make you look and feel your best is so important for the wedding day. Starting the morning off being pampered is definitely the best  – and choosing the photographer that suits your personality and “vibe” is so important to creating the relaxing atmosphere to set the tone for your ceremony and reception!
